CPI Oil-Water Separator

Corrugated-plate interceptor for gravity separation of free oil and settleable solids from produced and industrial water to < 10 ppm — compact, no moving parts.

Quick Answer

A CPI (Corrugated Plate Interceptor) Oil-Water Separator removes free oil and settleable solids from water by gravity, using closely spaced corrugated plates to shorten droplet rise distance. It achieves outlet oil-in-water below 10 ppm with no moving parts, in a footprint far smaller than an API separator.

System Overview

The CPI separator uses a pack of closely spaced corrugated plates to dramatically reduce the distance an oil droplet must rise before coalescing and being skimmed. This delivers API-421 performance in a fraction of the footprint of a conventional gravity separator.

Design & Construction

Carbon-steel or stainless tank, removable plate packs for cleaning, oil-skimming weir, sludge hopper, and optional gas blanket for hydrocarbon service. Available open-top or pressurised.

FAQ

When is a CPI preferred over an API separator?

When footprint is constrained and the duty is free-oil removal. The plate pack achieves the same separation in a much smaller vessel.

What about emulsified oil?

CPI removes free and dispersed oil. For emulsified oil below the gravity-separation limit, a downstream coalescer or flotation stage is added.
